Nikko is located in the Tochigi prefecture of Japan. Nikko is one of the major site seeing areas outside of the Tokyo Metropolis. The city is approximately 140 kilometres outside of Tokyo.
Nikko is a quiet town situated in the mountains of Tochigi. Famous for its shrine complex which houses the late shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who’s shogunate ruled Japan for over 250 years. The complex centre piece is the renouned Toshogu shrine, which displays the three wise monkeys (hear no ,see no and speak no evil) carved into its gateway.
Nearby attractions include the beautiful Chuzenji lake and kegon water fall, as well as some of Japans best hot spring ‘onsens’.
